Buddha statue, religious image or any objects of art produced in the Kingdom or acquired in the Kingdom Permission must be obtained from the government before exporting outside the Kingdom. The responsible agency is the Fine Arts Department for Chiang Mai Province. Chiang Mai National Museum will be the agency responsible for issuing such licenses.
Such products must be able to identify the origin of the product. For example, buy from a shop that has a license to trade antiques.
- Prepare documents to apply for a license (Sor.Kor.6) which can be submitted only on Mondays.
- Waiting for an appointment to inspect Buddha statues/art objects from the officer.
- Take the product for verification
- Waiting for the license to be issued (Normally it takes about 2-3 weeks)
- Pick up your license and pay the fee.
